Bec BartonResidential, Sustainable Building Methods

Scherini residence is a striking family home in Dwellingup built from structural insulated panels (SIPs) with a steel frame.  This functional, double height home is on a sloping block so was not suited to a concrete slab.  With suspended floors it needed to be well insulated or it would be cold inside.  So, the owners decided to build from structural insulated panels; which are an insulated walling system that is self-supporting, in most cases.  This home has a sleek steel portal frame to provide the overall support for the panels and as you can see, it nestles in nicely to it’s environment.
